Relay «Flame of Peace» to the II European Games will be held on the iconic places of Belarus

The famous torchbearers of the torch relay of the II European Games will carry the “Flame of Peace” to the places of their small homeland.

450 people will perform the torchbearers. According to the organizers, these will be athletes, famous representatives of culture, science, art, public figures, etc. “We tried to connect the paths of famous torchbearers with their small homeland. So that they have the opportunity to visit the places where they were born, and the people who come to the event could see and talk with their famous countrymen, ”explained the head of the ceremonies and cultural program of the Directorate of the II European Games, Sergey Khomich.

Before the start of the “Flame of Peace” relay, which will be the forerunner of the II European Games in Belarus, 98 days are left. “European games — multisport competitions are in itself a unique event for Belarus. The “Flame of the World” relay, which proclaims them, will become a kind of marathon in iconic places and sights of each region, ”said Sergey Khomich.

Currently, the routes of the torch relay are discussed in working order, including localities, businesses and attractions of all regions.
It is planned that in every village where the relay will be stopped, a real sports and cultural festival will be held.

The start of the relay is scheduled for May 3 in Rome, where the flames of the II European Games will be lit. In Belarus, it will travel for 50 days. The “Flame of Peace” will begin its way through the republic in Brest on May 12. Further, the torch will be carried by more than 60 settlements in all regions of the country. In each area will be thought out six-day route. Finishes the relay by carrying out the flame at the opening ceremony of the II European Games on June 21 in Minsk at the Dynamo stadium.
