Sports trainer Anna Kolenko will be a judge at the II European Games

Not only Belarus, but also the whole world community expects the largest sports forum of the continent — II European Games. In June 2019, more than 4,000 athletes from 50 countries will compete for 200 sets of awards in 15 sports, as well as licenses for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Evaluate the performance of athletes will be experienced judges. Among them is our compatriot Anna Kolenko.

Anna is well known in sports circles of Zelvenshchyna. Since childhood, she has been engaged in handball, has educated a galaxy of talented students. Today she works as an athletics trainer in a junior sports school. After learning about the possibility of becoming a judge at the European Games, as it should be a handball ex-goalkeeper, responded instantly.

Without hesitation, I went to Grodno for courses, where applicants from all over the region were introduced to the rules of international competitions for two days. Further — a written exam, which, apparently, our compatriot passed successfully. After all, she was invited to Minsk to judge the test competitions in athletics.

– It was a kind of rehearsal for the II European Games. When judging, rules similar to those used in international games were applied, ”said Anna Kolenko. — Competitions will be held on a knockout system.

Countries competing in six athletics disciplines will first have a draw, which will result in the formation of rival pairs. The winner in the overall standings will pass on, the loser is eliminated.

Anna does not hide: this system of refereeing is new for her, therefore she continues to master the intricacies of the process. He says that the task is responsible: for international competitions it will work for the first time.

“For me, the European Games are an opportunity to gain invaluable experience, learn something new and pass on the acquired knowledge to pupils,” explained the woman.

By the way, the students of Anna Kolenko do not lag behind their coach. Perhaps one of the students — Alexander Svistun (winner of the republican pole vaulting competitions) — will also go to the II European Games. True, as a volunteer.

Anna is sure: the athlete Artem Kalachev has great chances to qualify for the competition.

Let’s hope that the 2nd European Games will play a friendly company.
